Evaluation

This section describes the evaluation criteria needed to meet performance and content standards. You will be evaluated on a number of categories as can be seen in the rubric below. You will be assessed on how accurately you answer the questions assigned to your individual role, whether or not you worked cooperatively with your group members, how you managed class time, and how effectively you presented your material as a oceanographer. Please check the following rubric to make sure you have completed each objective.

You will earn a score of 1-5 in each of the categories below. Your scores will be combined to obtain your cumulative score.

Category 1: Participation

*4 points: All students contributed equally to the group. Group presentation was engaging, well-rehearsed and organized. All members of the group participated equally in all elements of the project.
*3 points: All students contributed to the group, but some group members did more than others. Group presentation was engaging, well-rehearsed and organized. While all members of the group participated in all elements of the project, there was an unequal distribution of work.
*2 points: Unequal distribution of work within the group. Very limited participation from some members. Group presentation had poor organization and showed limited rehearsal.
*1 point: One member of the group completed the project. Group presentation centered around one individual. No evidence of collaboration or effort on the part of many of the group members.

Category 2: Content Knowledge

*4 points: Group member demonstrates in-depth knowledge and understanding of content integrated into all three parts of of the task.
*3 points: Group member demonstrates a basic understanding of content learned through the project. Students is able to make limited higher level connections.
*2 points: Group member demonstrates limited understanding of content learned through the project. Student fails to make higher level connections.
*1 point: Group member demonstrates little to no understanding of content learned through the project. Student fails to make higher level connections.

Category 3: Grammar, Capitalization, Spelling, and Overall Presentation

*4 points: No errors in spelling, grammar, and capitalization. Overall presentation is neat and easy to follow.
*3 points: Few errors in spelling, grammar, and capitalization. Errors are few and do not detract from the overall understanding and presentation of the content.
*2 points: Significant amount of errors in spelling, grammar, and captialization. Errors detract from the overall understanding and presentation of the content.
*1 point: Number of errors in spelling, grammar, and capitalization make the presentation unintelligible.

Category 4: Organization

*4 points: All portions of group project are well-organized. Teacher and peers can easily understand and follow the group presentation.
*3 points: All portions of the group presentation are fairly well organized. Teacher and peers and understand and follow the majority of the group presentation, but the presentation lacks some transitions and is fague in a few areas.
*2 points: Audience and teacher have a difficult time following the group presentation. It is difficult to understand the content being presented. The presentation is not sequenced well.
*1 point: The audience cannot understand the presentation because it lacks sequence and clarity.
